My Kindle Fire - 3 Weeks Later
Well, if you read my post a few weeks ago, you know that my venture into the world of tablet computing began after a long time pondering which tablet would finally bring me in. The release of the iPad 3 made me finally realize that an apple product would not bring me, a PC guy for 20 years, around. Now I have used the fire for three weeks, and I honestly feel that my money could not have been placed more wisely.
To begin, I am enjoying reading again, I have purchased several books, including the books behind the recently released movie, "The Hunger Games" (A good read, though aimed a bit below my level, in my opinion) Reading is something I have often enjoyed throughout my life, Dean Koontz among my favorite authors. Lately it seemed as though I didn't have time to read, however, by purchasing my Kindle, I discovered that it is more the convenience of having the book available to read at anytime, that has increased my fever for reading again. I enjoy reading daily now, at lunchtime, and in the evenings. It has truly been a welcome surprise.
Secondly, the device's size has been a surprising positive. At first the size was a factor I was not completely sold on, but now after carrying the device for near a month, I have discovered that the device is sized very well. It is the absolute perfect size for reading, and when you browse the web, the device is large enough to browse comfortably, with little zooming necessary. The apps run sharply and smoothly, on a screen that is well suited for them.
Overall, for the price, I have recommended, and will continue to recommend the kindle to anyone looking to purchase a new tablet device.
How do you carry/transport it? It’s not quite pocketable, is it?
No, I actually picked up a Zip-Up case, and I carry it like a phone. It’s not at all an inconvenience in my opinion, as I’m carrying around my Windows Phone anyhow.
